How To Cook Kamut

Kamut is the trademark registered for khorasan wheat, an ancient Egyptian grain that was introduced to the West during the mid-20th century. Kamut grain is organic, it contains around 15% protein, it is high in selenium, and plays a significant role in thyroid gland functioning. It is known for its buttery rich flavor, and lasts longer than wheat due to the low moisture levels in it. Kamut can be cooked in a variety of ways and recipes. Here at OneHowTo.com, we will tell you how to cook kamut.

Steam kamut

One way to cook kamut is to steam it and use it to replace rice. To do that, pre-soak the kamut grains overnight, boil with two or three times the amount of water in a pan, add the kamut to it, and let it simmer for around 45 minutes. You may also steam it with the same amount of water, and let simmer for around 60 minutes. Once the kamut has been steamed, you can use it the same way you use rice.
