At this stage it's barely impossible you don't know what cake pops are. They are small cakes at the end of a small stick coated in a solid edible food cover such as chocolate. Imagine a lollipop but with an inside that is soft because it is made of cake. Strawberry Cake pops

This original cake pops recipe is designed for children or for those addicted to strawberries. Here you can use any type of cake for the filling but we recommend using sponge cake as it will not mask the taste of the strawberries.

We need the following:

  • 350 grams (12.3 oz) of cake
  • 75 grams (2.6 oz) of strawberry Nesquik or strawberry soluble drink
  • 80 grams (2.8 oz) of cream cheese
  • 50 ml of milk
  • Red colorant
  • Chocolate to melt
  • Lollipop sticks to prick the balls

Firstly crush the cake. Add the cream cheese, milk and Nesquik. Mix well with a whisk and add a touch of red dye. The dough needs to be consistent. Then, to make the balls for cake pops, we can use a suitable shaped mold or make them by hand. Most importantly, we must always try to have these remain in the same size. Put the balls it in the fridge for a couple of hours to solidify.

After this time melt the chocolate, dip the tips of the sticks in it and insert them into the balls which will have just been taken out of the fridge. Put them back in the fridge so they attach well and therefore avoid the cakes coming of the sticks. A few minutes it will suffice. Finally dip them in the melted chocolate and leave to drain.

It will be convenient to have some cork or similar surface to handy to rest the cake pops after dipping, this also works as a good presentation platter and will keep things cleaner.

How to Make Original Cake Pops - Strawberry Cake pops

Oreo cake pops

Those who are addicted to Oreo cookies must take note of this original recipe! For this we need:

  • 300 grams (10.5 oz) of Oreos
  • 150 grams (5.2 oz) of chocolate spread (Nutella type)
  • Chocolate to melt
  • Toothpicks
  • Decoration to taste

First we crush the biscuits using a mortar or food processor. Add the chocolate and make balls. Stand for an hour in the fridge.

After this time melt the chocolate, dip the tips of the sticks in it and insert them into the balls. We must leave it in the refrigerator for the chocolate to set and have the sticks attach to the balls. After a few minutes take them out and dip the balls in the chocolate. Leave it to drip and then put it in the fridge for another few minutes. Then the recipe will be ready for eating.

You can the use sugar decorations to decorate the cake pops. Do this before placing them for the last in the fridge, just after you have dipped them in chocolate.

How to Make Original Cake Pops - Oreo cake pops

Cake pops with mascarpone

Another type of cake pops you can make are mascarpone based: They are among the most popular and that is partly thanks to their easy preparation. If they are your first cake pops, you can start with this recipe. We need:

  • 300 grams (10.5 oz) of chocolate sponge cake
  • 150 grams (5.2 oz) of mascarpone
  • Chocolate to melt
  • Toothpicks
  • Sugar strands for decoration

If you do not want to use chocolate cake you can do this with plain sponge cake; we recommend using chocolate as the contrast of flavors between chocolate and mascarpone is intense and very good.

First we crumble the cake and mix with the mascarpone until a smooth paste is obtained. Make balls and leave to cool in the refrigerator for about an hour. Melt the chocolate, dip the tips of the sticks in it and then insert them into the balls. Place in a suitable container and leave to cool for a few minutes in the refrigerator to ensure the cake sticks to the stick.

Then we dip the cake pops into the melted chocolate and add the decorations you want, whether hearts, noodles, candy faces, etc. Ready to enjoy!
