Indian food is just incomplete without rotis. Whether it is a dry or a gravy based recipe, it definitely has to go with a roti. If you had a get-together last night, and you have some leftover rotis in your casserole, then here at, we will tell you what to do with leftover roti.

Steps to follow:

Roti chips: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brush each side of the rotis with olive oil, and sprinkle some seasonings and spices on them. Cut them into strips or wedge, and arrange in single layer of a cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes, or until they turn brown and crispy. You can make a delicious dip by mixing yoghurt with chopped cucumber, onion, carrot and tomatoes, along with salt to taste.

Roti quesadillas: Cut leftover rotis into triangles, and lay each one on a lightly greased baking tray or sheet. Preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 375 degrees, and place the baking sheet in the oven until the rotis become crisp and golden brown. Place the meat or any leftover vegetable on the rotis, add cheese and chutney, fold in half and cook high for 10 seconds or until the cheese melts. Serve with a dip or ketchup.

Roti Chiwda: Cut the leftover rotis into pieces. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds in hot oil, add turmeric powder, add the roti pieces and stir fry them. Mix the pieces well, so that all pieces get a nice yellow color of the turmeric powder. Add salt to taste. Stir occasionally until all roti pieces become crisp and brown. Serve as an evening snack with a cup of Indian masala chai.


Roti noodles: Cut the leftover rotis into thin strips. Heat oil in a wok, add onions and fry till golden brown. Add carrots and cook until half cooked. Add tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy. Season with salt and spices, and mix well. Add soy sauce, add cut roti pieces, and mix well. Use cilantro to garnish, and serve hot. You can add ketchup and chilly sauce for taste.

Roti upma: Tear leftover rotis into pieces. Chop onions, capsicums and green chili. Add oil in a pan, and let cumin and mustard seeds crackle. Add chopped onion and green chili to it, and sauté. Add sesame seeds and peanuts to it, and roast until golden brown. Add capsicum and sauté. Add torn rotis in it, and mix well. Saute on low flame, turn off the gas, and add lemon juice to it. Use coriander leaves to garnish.
