To avoid this, you will need to put them in water with lemon, so we recommend that you add it directly to the pan in which you cook the artichokes and put it on to heat. If you prefer, you can put a bowl with water and lemon and keep them there until the water is boiling.


Add salt to the cooking water and when the water starts to boil, put the peeled artichokes in the saucepan. It is important that all vegetables are covered with water, so you'll need a large enough pan; also, you can use a utensil to press down so they don't come out of the water, like a bowl or steaming basket.


You must leave the artichokes to boil for about 15 minutes, although the best thing to do is pierce them with a knife or other sharp tool to check whether they are soft or if they still need to be cooked more.
