1

The first thing you should do before you cook the cauliflower is choose a good specimen. Remember to choose a cauliflower with very fresh and tight buds. The better the raw material, the better the outcome.

2

Once we have the cauliflower, we will wash it. Because of tightness of its mass it is difficult to wash it inside, but we must wash it well on the outside with cold water and remove any traces that have remained since buying it. Also remember to remove the green leaves.

3

To cook the cauliflower properly, the ideal is cut it into pieces (Four portions is fine). If you try to cook the entire piece whole it is possible that some parts will stay hard. If you cut it into portions that are too small they may fall apart.

4

Choose a pot, place the cauliflower inside and cover it with water to cook it. Salt to taste and put on the hob to heat. Some people also like to add a potato and a bay leaf to accompany it.

5

Cooking in a standard pot needs between 15 and 20 minutes. Before removing from the heat you should prick it to confirm it is cooked or whether it still needs a few more minutes of cooking. If when you prick on the stem the fork slides in easily it means it is ready and we can remove it from the heat and taste it.

6

A very useful trick to eliminate its familiar smell is to add some bread crumbs to the pan where the cauliflower is being cooked. This simple advice makes the strong smell produced by boiling cauliflower disappear.
