How to make a chocolate Bundt cake from scratch

It has been for some time now that confectionery has had a surge in popularity and we now all venture to try new things in the kitchen. After the cupcake and fondant icing fever what is now becoming a kitchen favourite is the Bundt cake. The name of this type of cake comes from its mould, a 'Bundt', which was first marketed in the 60s in the United States by a brand called Nordic Ware and is characterized by its ring like shape.

The Bundt cake is directly related to the Gugelhupfs , a typical cake in Central Europe. In both cases the central hole or chimney makes it easy to bake this cake in a uniform fashion. Steps to follow to make this recipe:

The first step to prepare a chocolate Bundt cake will be to sieve the flour with the aid of a sieve and a spoon. With this step, you will prevent clumping and flour lumps forming and, simultaneously, get a more spongy result.

Add the others dry ingredients to the flour: Cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Mix well with a spoon and put the container aside. Then, in a bowl or container, you must mix the milk with the cream.

Then take the butter, which must be previously removed from the refrigerator so it is a little soft, and put it together with the sugar in the food processor or electric whisk bowl. Beat until the mixture is whitish and has a spongy texture; It is at this point when you need to add an egg and continue beating it and, once it is mixed, do the same with the other egg.

The next step in making the dough of your bundt cake will be to slowly add the flour and cocoa mixture into the bowl of the mixer and continue beating, albeit at a slower rate. At the moment you have incorporated all the dry ingredients you can also pour the liquid ingredients you had put aside and beat until you have a homogeneous mixture.

Now you can proceed to grease the mould with a little butter to later remove the chocolate Bundit cake from its mould with greater ease. Remember that one of the most basic features of this type of cake is to use a high mould with a hole in the middle, so that the result is similar to a big fat ring.

With that done, you can pour the mixture into the mould and spread it evenly, especially if your mould has some special shapes. Now you can put the Bundt cake in the oven, which should be preheated to 180ºC, for about half an hour or until you can check that after prodding it with a stick or knife this comes out clean.

After taking this irresistible chocolate Bundt cake out of the oven you must let it cool slightly before removing it from its mould. Then you can choose from different options to decorate it:
