How to Make Non-Alcoholic Mojito
There are few cocktails as valued and trendy as the Mojito: Invented in Cuba centuries ago, it has stayed popular over the years, evolving into different variations. Although the original version of this Cuban drink is made from lime, mint, sugar, soda and white rum, it is also possible to prepare a non-alcoholic variant, making it ideal for the whole family.
If you want to know how to make alcohol-free mojito, pay attention to this OneHowTo recipe. It is very simple and you can do it at home in just a few minutes.
The first step in order to make non-alcoholic mojito is to wash the spearmint or peppermint leaves - as many as we want, although the most common thing is to use between 7 and 10 - and place them in a container with the brown sugar. You can also use white sugar, but it's less authentic.
Now, with the help of a pestle and mortar, crush the two ingredients lightly for the flavors to start blending. Do not shred the leaves; we just want the juices to get out.
Wash and cut the limes into quarters. Add the lime wedges to the container with the peppermint and sugar. Crush the lime pieces with the pestle and mortar one by one to extract their juice. Crush again so that all ingredients come together, well-blended.
Some people squeeze the limes a bit before adding them.
Add the crushed ice - not cubes! - to the glass. Fill with a splash of soda, Sprite, sparkling water or similar soft drink.
Add the sugar, mint and lime mixture to the glasses and mix it carefully, stirring with a spoon. It is ready! This is how to make non-alcoholic mojito that the whole family can enjoy.
If you want to decorate the mojitos to make a nice presentation a nice idea is to rub lime on the edges of the glass and then sprinkle some sugar on them. As a final touch, add a leaf of mint or peppermint to decorate.
