How to Make Pumpkin Flan

And this time at we've got a tasty version of the classic egg or vanilla flan using pumpkin, a very original way to use this ingredient when you have it in the house. The first and obvious step to make Pumpkin flan is to preheat the oven to 200°C or 392°F. Then prepare the caramel to make your pumpkin flan taste delicious. This is done by heating the sugar in a frying pan or sauce pan, preferably non-stick, and then adding water until the mixture thickens and becomes golden.


Once ready, add the caramel to the flan ring you will use to make the pumpkin flan. This will settle at the bottom so that when it's ready and you remove it from the mold, the caramel is at the top of the flan, giving it a delicious taste.


To proceed with the preparation, mix 6 eggs, the cans of condensed milk and evaporated milk, the pumpkin and a teaspoon of vanilla in a bowl using an electric or manual whisk. The ingredients should be mixed uniformly.

Wait for the caramel in the flan ring to cool a bit before adding the next mixture.


Once the caramel is a bit solid, add the above mixture to the flan ring, cover with a foil and bake in a bain-marie for 1 hour.

After an hour, remove the foil and insert a knife into the mix, if it comes out clean the pumpkin flan will be ready. Otherwise let it cook a few more minutes.


Remove from the oven once curdled. Wait until slightly cool and then put it in the fridge for at least 4 hours before removing the mold, stopping your pumpkin flan from splitting, so it will look perfect.
