Although originally from Cuba, the Mojito has become one of the most popular cocktails in the world. If you love the classic mojito made with lime, mint, sugar, soda and rum do not hesitate to try the strawberry mojito, a variant of this very refreshing and delicious drink.

In this oneHOWTO article we'll show you how to make strawberry mojito at home with a very simple step by step recipe. It's perfect for spring!

Between 15 & 30 minutes low difficulty

Ingredients:

You'll need:

  • Container
  • Knife
  • Pestle and mortar

Steps to follow:

1

Add the peppermint leaves, chopped strawberries and sugar to a bowl. Slightly crush the three ingredients with a pestle and mortar to make the flavors and juices blend. Do not shred the mint leaves.

If you want a slightly less sweet drink, substitute peppermint for spearmint. It's better if you grow mint at home - you'll have cocktails closer at hand.

2

Wash the limes, cut them into quarters and add them to the bowl. Crush again to extract their juice.

3

Pour a splash of white rum per person in the bowl and mix well with the other ingredients.

Black rum has a stronger flavor, and thus would drown out the more delicate mint and strawberry.

4

Place in the glasses the crushed ice and add a splash of soda until the glass is filled.

5

Pour the mixture into the glass and add, if desired, a small spoonful of strawberry syrup for extra sweetness.

Stir and you will be ready to enjoy this delicious cocktail. Now that you know how to make strawberry mojito, why not substitute the fruit for other berries or even watermelon? It might even count as one of your five a day.

6

Since the strawberry Mojito is a very colorful, fruit-filled drink, it is perfect for garden parties, dates with friends and informal gatherings, as well as day-time parties and events.

If you enjoy sweet, aromatic cocktails do try shrub cocktails (made with herbal syrups!), classy vermouth cocktails to dress up your late mornings or the classic Margarita on the rocks.
