Steps to follow:
1

The first step to make Worcestershire sauce at home is to peel and chop or shred the onion into very small pieces. Next, you must also peel the garlic cloves and crush them in a mortar with a pestle. Once you have both vegetables well mashed, you should throw them in a pot or a small saucepan.

2

Then, add the rest of the spices and condiments to the pot that are needed for the Worcester sauce:

  • pepper, either black, red or both as you prefer
  • mustard seeds
  • clove
  • ginger
  • ground cinnamon
  • cardamom

Likewise, you must also add the vinegar, soy sauce and molasses. At this point, you can start to stir together all the ingredients and put them on a low heat so they warm up.

3

Next, you will need the mortar again. Add salt, anchovies and curry, and crush everything with the pestle until you get a smooth paste. The next step is to add a glass of water to the pan you have on the stove.

4

You will need to let the sauce boil before you reduce the flame for about 40 minutes and then move the Worcestershire sauce to a blender to completely grind in all the spices and give it a smooth texture.

5

That done, you can now put your homemade Worcestershire sauce in a glass jar or another airtight container to preserve it. Wait for it to cool before sealing the bottle and putting it in the refrigerator where it can be stored for several weeks. We recommend that before each use, you shake your bottle of Worcestershire sauce and strain it to avoid possible traces of some of the seasonings.
