Therefore, in this oneHOWTO article we explain how to make an apple cake so you can learn the steps required and make a perfect cake.
Apples are used in many recipes related to baking. For example if we have to name a few, we can mention apple strudel, small strips that are set over caramelised apples. To begin, we should clarify that in all of these recipes we use green apples. We do not use red apples, nor Pink Lady apples. This is because red apples or Pink Lady apples take much more to cook and the result would not have a lot of consistency, which is an important factor when baking. With respect to the mass, it needs to be short pastry.
In the blender you should add just butter or butter with sugar and mix until you've got a creamed substance. This is formed when the butter in a food processor clears. One by one add the yolks and beat them until each of them has been added and blended, then add the vanilla essence.
Bring together the flour and salt. Sift them if possible, but it's not a problem to just chuck them into the blender. When a ball is formed, give it a good twist and remove the dough. Put it on the table, crush it, wrap it in film and pop it in the refrigerator.
When it's brought out of the cold refrigerator, give the mass time to try to soften and then move the rolling pin over it until it is 2 millimetres thick. Put it in a pan and bake it for 10 minutes in the oven, then take it out of the oven to put the filling in. Afterwards it will be baked for longer.
Making the filling:
Peel the apples and cut them up into small cubes. Put the butter in a pan and add the apples. In the same pan add the sugar and jam.
Mix and add very little water without boiling. The mix should not boil at any point during the process. Cook the preparation until the apples are nice and tender enough to be able to be easily pierced. When this happens, take out the filling and let it all cool.
Making the pie cover:
In a bowl mix the flour with the sugar and add melted butter. When you notice that it's made a kind of stodgy pastry that you can get in our hands and that it blends when we squeeze it, then we know it is ready.
Put the filling into the dough, then cover, sprinkle with powdered sugar and put it all in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius (325 F).
