The first step to make your French fried onion is to slice the onion as per your preferred thickness. It’s usually better to thinly slice them as they get crispier that way.

Next, soak the slices in milk for about 5-10 mins.

While the onions are getting soaked, mix the dry ingredients, flour, salt and pepper in a plate.

Now, you should heat the oil/ butter in a pan on high heat.

Remove the onion slices from the milk and lay them on the flour mixture so that they are coated well. You can use a fork or do it by hand.

Once the oil is heated up, shake off the excess flour from the onion slices and drop them in the hot oil in batches.
