Chipa is a really delicious kind of cheese bread roll which is great to enjoy at any time of day. This is a typical recipe from Paraguay you can find for sale in some bakeries in the country, but it is also possible to make them at home without too much effort and with a delicious result, so if you want to prepare these yourself you can follow this step by step guide. In OneHowTo.com we explain in detail how to make Paraguayan chipa bread rolls.
To start preparing your Paraguayan chipa place the manioc starch in a bowl along with the salt and then add the hard rind cheese which must be previously grated.
Then add into this mixture the Gouda cheese in cubes and stir everything using your hands. Then melt the butter over a very low heat, do it slowly to avoid burning.
Once melted add it to the bowl and start mixing it with the flour.
To this preparation, which seems to be composed of crumbs, you must add the juice of the half orange. Add the egg and milk and begin to knead the dough on a table so that all the ingredients are well integrated.
Keep kneading until the chipa dough is manageable, as you will see it is unlike common flour as this is a little harder and will require a greater effort to work. When you finish kneading let it rest for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes cut the pieces of the dough to make the rolls and place on a greased baking tray. The last step is to put the rolls in a preheat oven at 200 ° C for about 15 minutes, when you see that the outside starts to color remove them. Your chipa are now ready to eat.
