The first thing you should do is cut a few leaves of aloe vera. We recommend that you check out our article on how to cut aloe vera leaves to do it correctly. Then, with a knife, cut the leaves laterally so as not to prick yourself with the thorns and wash them well.
Now, remove the pulp to make juice. To do this, cut the leaf on its side and open it. Then, take a spoon and remove all of the aloe vera pulp that you can, until only the outside of the leaf remains. Place the pulp you've extracted in a container that's large enough to blend it later.
Now, add water and if you'd like, you can add some honey and a teaspoon of natural fruit juice or citrus to counteract the bitter taste of the aloe vera. If you have a blender, blend it all together or crush it until it's completely liquid.
You can add more water if it's not entirely liquid, or to your liking. Now you can serve the aloe vera juice in glasses and drink it. This recipe will yield several glasses, so you can store the remainder in the refrigerator in a covered container, such as a bottle, to keep it fresh. If you'd like, you can add ice cubes to make it colder.
Before you start drinking aloe vera juice, it's always advisable to consult a specialist, because if done incorrectly, it can have side effects. Also, for people with diseases such as colitis, appendicitis, Crohn's disease or other intestinal problems, it's not recommended to drink aloe vera juice. Pregnant women should also refrain from drinking it. Due to its laxative properties, it can cause diarrhoea and even a stomach ache. Drinking too much juice can lead to vomiting.
