Beetroot crisps are a good choice if you want a healthy snack, and this recipe we propose at OneHowTo will use the oven instead of deep frying so you get crunchy crisps with just a few calories. And we assure you they will be as crispy as the fried ones, only lighter.


Start by preheating the oven to 150°C whilst you prepare the beetroot. Wash and peel your beetroot and then, with the help of a potato or mandolin peeler if you have one to hand, cut the beetroot into very thin slices.

The thinner the slices are the faster they will cook and crunchier they will become.


Once they are cut there are only a few steps left before you can enjoy your beetroot crisps in the oven. Extend baking paper on a baking sheet and distributes the beet slices, without them becoming stacked, and then add a very fine splash of olive oil and sprinkle salt, pepper and herbs like oregano, parsley or thyme, which will give an incredible flavour to your vegetables. Do not add too much oil or they will become soggy.


Place the tray in the oven for 15 minutes or until the crisps are golden. You should probably make two batches to cook all the slices you cut, but the wait is worth it. Remove from the oven and leave the beetroot crisps to cool before eating. Be careful not to burn them. Remain close to the oven as 1 minute more can spoil your beetroot crisps in the oven.
