Preparing an infusion of sage is very simple and only needs a few leaves of this plant and water. Depending on the intended use, you can add more ingredients. For example, if you want to prepare it for reducing fluid retention and losing weight, incorporated into the recipe a little lemon juice, two teaspoons of ground cinnamon and bay leaves. If you want to treat a sore throat you can add a little honey or cayenne pepper.

The leaves can be purchased at any herbal store or you can grow your own sage plant. The first thing you should do is put the water on to boil in a saucepan or pot. When it reaches boiling point, add the leaves and let simmer for about 15 minutes.

After this time, cover the saucepan and turn off the heat. You should let it sit for five minutes at least to evaporate, for the ingredients to integrate and make the infusion just right. If you want to add some additional ingredient, as indicated in the first step, you should do so when you incorporate the sage leaves.

When it has rested, you can strain the infusion and drink it. It is advisable to drink it after eating. If you do not like its intense flavour, you can always sweeten with a teaspoon of sugar or sweetener stevia. If you are pregnant it is not recommended to take this infusion.
