In this OneHowTo article we will learn a simple yet extremely delicious recipe on how to use cheese spread in pizza.
You'll need:
- For Dough:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 1.5 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- For Sauce: 2 tbsp tomato paste, ½ cup tomato puree, 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tbsp fresh basil
- For Toppings: 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, ½ cup cheese spread, ½ cup onion, ½ cup tomatoes, chillies
Steps to follow:
The first step of pizza making process is to make the dough. You can use ready-made pizza base but the taste of homemade dough is way better.
To make the dough, combine yeast, sugar and water in a bowl. Stir it with a spoon and then let it rest for about 15 minutes. This will help the yeast to 'bloom'. It should be noted that this step is crucial for achieving the right texture in your pizza crust.
After 15 minutes, add salt to 1 cup of flour. Then stir in this flour into the bloomed yeast mixture. Then take another cup of the flour and stir it into the same mixture. Ensure that the mixture is smooth and lump-free for the best results.
Take the mixture made in step 2 and put it on a kneading board or on a flat utensil. Then slowly work the third cup of flour into the mixture and keep kneading it till it is soft to touch and elastic-like. Make sure that the dough is not sticky. In this regard, you may sprinkle a little extra flour if necessary to achieve the right consistency.
Roll the dough to form a ball. Then coat it in olive oil. Take a bowl and put the dough in it. Cover the top of the bowl with a damp towel and let it rise for 40 minutes. This resting period allows the dough to develop its flavors and texture, ensuring a light and airy crust.
After 40 minutes, uncover the bowl. You will notice that the dough has risen to become double its size. Put the dough on the board and punch it down. Then knead it for 2 minutes. This step helps to remove excess air and makes the dough easier to manage.
Take out the pizza pan or oven tray and spray it with olive oil. Then spread the dough on the pan. Make sure to stretch it evenly to avoid any thin spots that could lead to holes in your crust.
Now it is time to make the sauce. To make the sauce, combine tomato paste, tomato puree, garlic mince, and basil in a small bowl. Then spread it on the pizza dough. Adding a pinch of salt and pepper can enhance the flavors of the sauce even more.
Spread the cheese spread on the sauce and then top it up with the mozzarella cheese. Finally, put the onions and tomatoes in a single layer all over the pizza. You can also add other toppings like olives or peppers for extra flavor.
Put it inside the oven and bake it for 11 to 13 minutes at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. When you take it out of the oven, your delicious pizza with cheese spread is ready. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing to ensure the cheese sets slightly and doesn't slide off.
