How to make flapjacks easily

Most commonly known in Britain and the Commonwealth area, flapjacks are delicious oat bars that are a healthy take-away snack you can make at home, and an easy recipe to cook with your children, as it'sonly made of syrup, oats, margarine and sugar.

Also known in other countries ans muesli bars or granola bars, there is no healthier sweet to make, plus it's suitable for vegans. That's why OneHowto would like to show you how to make flapjacks easily, so you can devour this amazing snack!

  • Saucepan
  • Oven tray
  • Baking parchment

Steps to follow:

First of all, you'll need to preheat the oven to 180C or gas 4. Prepare the baking tray with as much baking parchment as you'll be needing (this recipe makes 10).

Put the margarine, the brown sugar and the golden syrup in a saucepan and heat at medium heat. Stir every now and then until the butter and sugar are melted.

Add the oats and mix well. During this step you can also add extra ingredients to give your flapjack your favorite flavour. Rasins, sultanas and even dehydrated coconut or banana go well with this recipe.

Pour the mixture into your mold, making sure that the paste is 2 to 3 centimeters in thickness (the mold must be approximately 20 square centimeters if you want the mixture to have the right size and to fill it).

Bake for 30 minutes or until the top coat gets a golden look. Cut the flapjacks into squares and leave to cool. When they're cold you can remove them from the tin and they're ready to eat!
